This may not be the first time you’ve heard me be down in the Daily Reflections, and it won’t be the last, but I’ll touch on it a bit. more systematically in this article.
The AA thought of the day
What makes an effective talk at an A.A. meeting? There is a good speech with a good choice of words and an impressive delivery. Often a few simple words, straight from the heart, are more effective than the most polished speech. There is always the temptation to speak beyond one’s own experience, to make a good impression. This is never effective. What does not come from the heart does not reach the heart. What comes from personal experience and a sincere desire to help others reaches the heart. Do I speak for effect or out of a deep desire to help?
Meditation for the day
What does “One day at a time” mean in AA?
The phrase “one day at a time” can be applied to any difficult situation you find yourself in. It is a phrase that reminds you to focus on the present and what you have to do in the next 24 hours. If you can learn to focus on the now and not stress about the future or the past, then you will remember to enjoy life as we know it.
You don’t have to worry about what the future holds or if something horrible might happen. Just focus on what is in front of you today.
