Learn to play Spit’s fast-paced card game and have fun playing the next time you’re with a friend.
Many times the two card games called Spit and Speed are confused with each other due to their similarities in gameplay. The way of playing Speed differs only slightly from the card game Spit. The main difference between the two favorite two-player card games is in the configuration of the starting cards. Both are extremely fun and exciting to play, and either will provide a quick boost of entertainment at any time.
Requires
A standard deck of cards (no Jokers) 2 players
Deal the cards evenly among the players (26 each), face down. A player cannot look at his cards. Each player creates five card piles, with 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 cards in each pile, respectively. Turn the top card of each pile face up. The remaining 11 cards become the stock and are placed in front of the player.
What is Spit?
Spit is the game that many of us learned to play as children. Little is known about its history, but I have heard that it originates from France and is probably derived from older card-matching and detachment games.
Number of players: 2
Play the cards
Players do not take turns on Spit; rather they play simultaneously.
When both players are ready, one player says «spit», and each player takes the top card of their spit deck and places it on a separate spit pile in the center of the play area.
Spit!
- Two players will play at the same time. If there are more than two players, the players will take turns playing the game.
- Shuffle the cards and deal the entire deck to both players.
- Each player will place four of his cards face up in front of him to create a row. The two rows should be far enough apart so that the cards can be placed between them.
- One of the players will say «spit!» which will start the game.
