If you haven’t seen it yet or aren’t familiar with ‘Star vs. the forces of evil’ is a Disney show that follows the story of a teenage princess from a fictional dimension called «Mewni», who is ruled by a matrilineal monarchy who reigns as the primary magic user within his realm. The dimension is divided between «Mewmans» who colonized the dimension several centuries earlier, and a diverse group of people referred to as «monsters» who were evicted from their homelands and systematically oppressed ever since. While some of the anti-colonial messages are very evident in the show, it also contains several plot lines that can easily be understood as anti-capitalist metaphors. There are too many examples to mention, but between the show’s message, excellent storytelling, and whimsical art style, the show is definitely worth watching.
